Founded in 1806, Salem is a quaint city located in northern Columbiana County and a small portion of southern Mahoning County. Many of Salem’s early settlers were Quakers, and during the Civil War, the city was a major hub in the American Underground Railroad system.

Mullins School of Practical Nursing, Kent State University’s Salem Campus, and Allegheny Wesleyan College.
